About

Every music platform lets you repeat a whole track. Almost none let you repeat a bar, a phrase, or a single sentence. LoopLab does that, accurately, and lets you send it to someone.

Why it exists

If you have ever tried to learn a fast run on a guitar, or catch one sentence in a language you are still learning, you know the ritual: drag the scrubber back, overshoot, drag again, miss it again. You end up fighting the player instead of practising.

The fix is not complicated. Mark where the good part starts, mark where it ends, and let it repeat. That is the whole product.

Why it is accurate

Nearly every other A–B looper drives its loop from the media element's timeupdate event, which fires about four times a second. Their loops run past the end point by up to a quarter of a second. Unnoticeable when you are rewatching a joke; infuriating when you are looping a two-second lick.

LoopLab drives from requestVideoFrameCallback instead, roughly every 16 milliseconds, and then closes the remaining gap with a lead that measures its own timing error each lap and compensates.

What it will not do

There is no download button, and there will not be one. Extracting audio from YouTube breaks their terms, and in India the Delhi High Court has already ordered stream-ripping sites blocked at the registrar. It would also take the site's domain down with it, and every loop anyone had ever shared along with it.

Clipping files you already own, entirely inside your browser, is a different matter. That one is on the list.

The honest caveat

On a YouTube video, when the loop jumps back there is a gap of roughly a tenth of a second while the player seeks. Nothing running in a browser can avoid that, because truly gapless looping needs the raw audio and a cross-origin video will never hand it over. On YouTube, LoopLab is accurate rather than seamless, and anything claiming otherwise is guessing.

A file you open from your own device is a different case, and this is the one place the distinction is worth making. Those are your samples, so they can be decoded and looped in the audio thread with no seek at all — not a smaller gap, no gap. The deck says which one you are getting rather than asking you to take it on trust. Your file never leaves your device, which is also why a loop of it cannot be sent to anyone: they have no copy of it.

Built over a handful of long evenings, because the annoyance was real. I kept dragging a YouTube scrubber back to the same four seconds and missing it every time.

If you try it, tell me what's wrong with it. At this stage a specific complaint is worth more than a compliment.

Or email hello@looplab.page. One person reads it, so a reply may take a day or two.
